KAFS digs are always great fun and excellent value for money. There are always experienced and friendly diggers on hand to help out if you're new and plenty of people willing to share their expertise in a variety of subjects - including the quality of beer and curry at the local hostelries! The social life after the dig is the best I have encountered at any field school.

There are plenty of opportunites to extend your knowledge in specialist areas - either by volunteering to do more on site, or by attending one or more of the excellent weekend seminars held at the wonderful School Oast, the base for the field school.

What is your top bit of advice Be prepared for anything! There's so much coming out of the ground that's unique to Kent its a real challenge to interpret it all. And always ask if you want to do more than just dig - there are plenty of opportunities to get more involved.
